Today’s EGLD briefing

Official calendar · conditional target

Supernova targets September 10, in epoch 2233

Official Supernova pages target Mainnet activation on September 10, 2026, in epoch 2233. The countdown displays approximately 17:42 UTC, but missed rounds may shift the time by a few minutes. Testnet has run at 600ms since April 2 and Devnet since August 20.

Read: The latest official technical update says an audit edge case still has to pass retesting, review and audit. September 10 remains the official target, but must be reconfirmed with the validated release.

Technical · announced targets

Ten-times-faster blocks with consensus decoupled from execution

Supernova is designed to move block time from 6 seconds to 600 milliseconds. MultiversX targets finality below 250ms and cross-shard settlement near 2.4 seconds, versus roughly 18 seconds today. The specification describes proposal before execution, asynchronous execution, an adapted mempool and millisecond timing.

Read: These are official technical targets. Real performance must be measured after activation; none of this guarantees a higher EGLD price.

Transition · planned window

A roughly 24-minute drain period is planned for the switch

The Builders page describes 240 six-second rounds between epoch 2233 opening and the activation round, or roughly 24 minutes. During that period Mainnet is expected to stop selecting transactions from the pool for inclusion in blocks so in-flight work can drain.

Read: A transaction submitted during the window may wait until the new clock starts. The 240-round figure was still described as being calibrated, so the final announcement and official channels matter.

Release · snapshot status

An audit edge case delayed the public release

At 23:24 UTC on September 2, CodeMultiversX said overnight internal tests were clean but the day’s audit found an unhandled case. The fix must pass retesting, review and audit again, so no public upgrade was released that day. The latest Mainnet release visible in the GitHub snapshot is v2.0.5.0-rc1, an August 31 pre-release.

Read: The team still targets September 10 and epoch 2233, while saying it will confirm them with the release announcement after validation.

Network · official API

The network displays 9.25 million accounts and 624.88 million transactions

At 11:10 UTC the MultiversX API reported 3 shards, 9,251,429 accounts, 624,882,949 transactions and epoch 2225. The economics API reported 30.70 million EGLD circulating and 14.52 million staked, or about 47.3% of circulating supply. MIP-27 states that the emission schedule remains unchanged.

Read: Supernova adapts calculations to variable rounds, but September 10 is not announced as an EGLD tokenomics change. Network counters do not determine the token’s future value.

Market · 11:10 UTC snapshot

EGLD jumps over 24 hours but pulls back from the UTC open

On Binance Spot, EGLD/USDT was 4.95 USDT: up 17.41% over rolling 24 hours, 45.67% over seven days and 77.95% over thirty days. The 24-hour range was 4.192–5.50 USDT. Yet EGLD was down 6.67% from the UTC open. Kraken showed $4.91 during the cross-check.

Read: The rally precedes Supernova, but chronology does not prove the upgrade alone caused it. Continuation, consolidation and selling around the event remain possible scenarios, not forecasts.
